A Successful Pregnancy from Oocyte Donation in the Absence of Ovaries

Abstract
Ovum donation is an extended method of in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer program. And now an integral part in the management of infertility, providing hope to patients who were previously considered permanently infertile. These are
premature
ovarian failure, genetic disorder, repeated failure in IVF, surgical castration and after radiotheraoy or chemotherapy.
We had an experiance of successful pregnancy from the oocyte donation in the absence of ovaries. And then report, review of Ovum Donation Program with the previous papers.
The patients was a 29 year olf wo 8 years ago had bilateral salpingoophrectomy. After one year of marriage, she came to our hospital wanting to have a baby. We advised hormone replacement therapy and IVF program with ovum donation. The donor was

year
old elder sister of the patient, G4 P2 A2 L2. Donor's husband had vasectomy after donor's last delivery. In April, 1994, patient's hormone replacement was controlled to match donor's menstrual cycle. Donor started controlled ovarian
hyperstimulation on
her 3rd mens, cycle day. Egg collection from donor's ovaries, in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer to the recipient endometrium schedule were all completed according to our infertility clinic protocol. Pregnancy was confirmed on the 12 days
after
embryo transfer by patient's serum b-HCG check. Fetal heart beat was confirmed on the IMP 5 weeks 6 days by transvaginal ultrasonography. The pregnancy is supported by estradiol valerate and progesterone until 18 weeks of gestation.
